Trans JAVA, Back to the Land of Ancestor (Part 7) Borobudur & Parangtritis

7th day....

Today we join a dawn tour of ancient monument "Borobudur" to watch the sun to rise. The cost for this tour us quite pricy. It's cost us about Rp.380,000 but it is so worth it. Usually at your guest house will providing several Sunrise tours package, so you can choose any kind of tour based on your own preferences. As for me, it is a MUST.

It left me speechless view and magnificent energy towards my soul and body.

As a Muslim, I believe in Allah (swt) is the real truth...created this magnificent world as a mercy to humankind and for us to explore...followed Muhammad (saw) guides and way of life so that I know where I am. From the top and looking at the sun to rise...I'm so blessed....it is truly majestic....

We want to have this feeling everyday...

Buddha, as I understood this is ancient Buddha temple

Now, it is time to learn a bit of this cradle of civilization....

Borobudur,or Barabudur, is a 9th century Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.[1] A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues each of which is seated inside a perforated stupa. It is the world’s largest Buddhist temple.Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty, the temple was designed in Javanese Buddhist architecture, which blends the Indonesian indigenous cult of ancestor worship and the Buddhist concept of attaining Nirvana.[The monument is both ashrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path around the monument and ascends to the top through three levels symbolic of Buddhist cosmology: Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness).
Evidence suggests Borobudur was constructed in the 9th century by King of Samaratungga and abandoned following the 14th-century decline of Hindu kingdoms in Java and the Javanese conversion to Islam.

Lots of story been told on the wall
Malay also known as a great seafarer and it is proven as it was carved at Borobudur
Highly intelligent architecture..
You have to walk around from one level to another level

Good bye Borobudur, till we meet again.... feeling satisfaction....

Our next destination is Parangtritis Beach, located at  Bantul Regency and planned to overnight here. We hired a transport together with a driver & cost us about Rp. 400,000 for pick up transfer from Borobudur, then send us to Parangritis and the next day pick up from Parangtritis and back to central of Jogjakarta to catch train to Solo. In order to save travel times we need to get a driver, however we still can explore most of the places along the journey.

Mendut Temple

On a way back, stop by at Mendut Temple. There are also another temple known as Pawon. The ticket fare about Rp. 3000 for both temple

Stop by at Silverware factory to experience how they carved the souvenirs, jewelleries and so on. It's need highly skilled talent and passion to create a fine jewelry. Sometimes the process will take about a week or more to complete.

Poor Civet...feel sad to see them in the cage
Next stop, kopi Luwak or civet coffee. It refers to the seeds of coffee berries once they have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet. As the name also used for marketing brewed coffee made from the beans. Producers of the coffee beans claims that the process may improve coffee through two mechanisms, selection and digestion. Selection occurs if the civets choose to eat coffee berries containing better beans. Digestive mechanisms may improve the flavor profile of the coffee beans that have been eaten. The civet eats the berries for the beans' fleshy pulp, then in the digestive tract, fermentation occurs. The civet's Protease enzymes seep into the beans, making shorter peptides and more free amino acids.Passing through a civet's intestines the beans are then defecated with other fecal matter and collected. "Luwak Kopi" is actually the most expensive coffee if you buy it at the coffee shop. Even for a small box about 50 gram cost us about Rp. 120,000. We make a funny statement that the most expensive coffee is a coffee that comes from shit LOL!!!.
The beans before and after peel of the bean skin
Become a coffee drink
Beautiful view of paddy fields along the journey makes us to fall asleep + with dangdut song played by the driver, make us migrane...

We reached Parangtritis about an hour before sunset. At that time, many local visitors have flooded coastal area seems like a festival. There are many hawkers selling snack or 'jajan' like grill corn, gado-gado etc. In addition, there are recreational activities available like horse riding, ATV (all terrain vehicle), horse carriage and local music entertainment. There are also streach of local restaurant selling seafoods but it is more on local tastes....

However, why we pick Parangtritis as one of our stopover, is to experienced sunset....nothing more...

Parangtritis also have its own legendary. Sometimes said to be a place to meet the Nyai Loro Kidul (also known as Ratu Kidul) or 'Queen of the South Sea'. Local folklore always warns visitors not to wear green clothes or the Ratu Kidul likely to try to entice the wearer into the ocean to drown. The beach is not really a good swimming beach because the current can drown you down...
